It’s a boy!

Baby mama reporting: unambiguously, positively and now officially, the little one has testicles!

Of course, mama preggle knew all along, as did the army of healers, psychics and almost every gypsy corn-seller on the streets of belgrade. Sooo, can’t say we’re all that surprised, although there was always that little intsy wintsy bit of doubt that the old wives tests are not AS accurate as, let’s say, the 4D ultrasound.

Speaking of which, we’ve also managed to get a snapshot of baby face at the doctor’s this week. It’s the kind of thing that blows your mind away while reducing you to a teary mush at the same time (ok, not much of a challenge for me these days). Here’s the baby’s first ever close-up, and you can decide if he’s more Mommy or Daddy kind of pretty…

if you can't make out the face, squint like you're looking at those 3D mosaic thingies and look on the left side of the photo)

(hint: if you can’t make out the face, squint like you’re looking at those 3D mosaic thingies and look on the left side of the photo)

well, that’s all from me for now. before i turn it over to buni daddy, i am officially opening a baby-name suggestion season. we’re open to (almost) anything, as long as it can be comfortably pronounced and correctly spelled in both languages…(Serbian words are pronounced exactly the way they are spelled). For those of you who think ‘Ha! Piece of cake,’ I double-triple dog dare you to come up with something that doesn’t end up sounding like japanese dish-washing detergent (or give the baby years of schoolyard hell). Love and hugs to everyone!

Baby Daddy here:

We went into the 4D sonogram room, already having agreed that we’d find out the baby’s sex. (Yes, i know i said i wanted to wait, but Mama-Maja wanted to know, and as she’s born the brunt of the burden, I gracefully acquiesce.  (Also, those pregnancy hormones… whoo, what a ride…)

So the Doctor lathers up her bowling ball sized tummy, sticks the wand on, up comes the picture on screen, and the Doctor says (in Serbian of course) “Well, your baby has some extremely prominent testes!”

Have kinder words every been spoken to me? I could have kissed her. (It wasn’t that i favored a son over a daughter, it’s that that is SO the right way to tell me about my little boy) And despite myself, despite my sensitive, artistic, even slightly feminine mannerisms, I proceeded to beat my chest and strut around the room like a Football player who’s just made a touchdown.

Damn that felt good!

So let me just add a quick note: For those who have been asking about a registry, it’s up and running. Just check out the sidebar Pages here on the blog.

Also, we do in fact have pictures (recent even) of Maja, as well as a few others up on the Photos Page.

Love to everybody.

  1. Dang, I owe you ten bucks. I’ll spend it on a manly baby present. You know, you have to get him properly genderized or Teh Evil Gheys will convert him.

So now you’re presented with the dilemma: Foreskin or no? We decided on nature’s way, but of course we’re hellbound agnostotheists, so the kid’s doomed anyway.

Congrats, keep up the good work. The world needs bright kids to counteract all the dumbasses born every minute. Learn him good!

  2. Yay testicles!

And we’ll be checking out that registry–though I will tell you, I categorically refuse to buy sports-themed “boy clothes”, but there’s plenty of other stuff out there that doesn’t scream “yes, my parents are terrified I’ll be gay if they don’t macho me up!” So we’ll be sending stuff your way.

  5. Name for baby, how about Baby Big Balls. Until we grow up… I mean him. I look forward to dressing him up in footballers kit , yummm! Great to know all is well. D’ont worry if he is a scorpio Maja, he will have beautiful eyes. Looks a bit like his Da anyway.
