In Honor of Star Trek’s 42nd Birthday

Although for the record, i’m not a fan by any stretch. Actually, i couldn’t give flying rat’s ass about Star Trek, although i’ll give the original series a cute kitch value. And i’m excited for the new movie Trek, but that’s  mostly because J.J. Abram is involved.

Still, i’ll give credit where credit is due. So here’s my toast to S.T.’s 42nd B-Day:

  1. I’m definitely not an old-school Trekkie, but I’ve watched me some Next Generation. Barring sporadic incidents of Brent Spiner attempting to act and stupid holodeck adventures (see also Brent Spiner), it was a damned good show. Some episodes, mostly Picard-centric ones such as The Inner Light, feature world-class scripts & performances that stand easily alongside the best of sci-fi. And then there are Tribbles. But hey, lots of crazy crap happened in the ’60s.
